Returning this winter Sugar Shack is a free, two-day, family-friendly event that celebrates all things maple. On March 11 and 12, 2023, this annual outdoor event will transform Sugar Beach into a Canadiana extravaganza featuring all things maple.

March 15 – April 23, 2023

Experience a ‘sauna village’ where you can move through and explore 5 sweat bathing structures each created by a different artist.

Every space is unique in design and ranges in temperature, and quality of steam. In one you’ll lie side by side with others on a heated floor, in another you might ladle water on the rocks to watch embedded video art through the rising steam.

What’s included:

  • Outdoor sauna village of artist-designed sweat bathing spaces⁠
  • Outdoor lounge, shower station and cold rinse to complement your hot/cold thermal cycles⁠
  •  A campfire to cozy up to⁠

ON NOW – April 2, 2023

Submerge yourself into a miniature world when you enter the mysterious, dark, and starry cube that rests at the Lower Jarvis walkway in Sugar Beach Park North. During the day it looks just like an industrial cube but at night it’s completely illuminated with stars.

This outdoor installation at Sugar Beach North is hosted by DesignTO. The art exhibit is called called ‘Territories 2.0’ by artist Olivier Roberge.

The Power Plant presents its Winter 2023 season with three exciting new exhibitions that feature video, painting, and installations by Canadian and international artists!

Brenda Draney: Drink from the river⁠.

Edmonton-based artist Brenda Draney’s largest institutional exhibition to date features nearly forty works, including five previously unexhibited paintings that examine the complex nature of intimacy.⁠

Amartey Golding: In the comfort of embers

UK-based artist Amartey Golding’s first solo exhibition in Canada features three films that are accompanied by sculptures and photographs that elaborate on the imagery and narratives in the projections.⁠

in parallel featuring Rouzbeh Akhbari, Joi T. Arcand, Aylan Couchie, Simon Fuh, Anique Jordan, and Julia Rose Sutherland⁠

The first iteration of this group exhibition brings together six artists from Tkaronto (Toronto) and surrounding areas who explore how visual documentation and cultural practices can reclaim narratives of their respective communities, despite colonialism’s persistence.⁠

2023 Waterfront Artist in Residency

Waterfront Toronto and the Waterfront BIA are excited to announce Simon Pope as the next artist-in-residence at the waterfront. 

Simon Pope is a Toronto-based artist who has a participatory walking art approach that will examine everyday interactions of people on the waterfront.
