Thursday, November 5, 2026 | 9:00am - 10:00am

The Waterfront Business Improvement Area (WBIA) is a board of management of the City of Toronto that supports the economic development of the area with initiatives in policy and advocacy, streetscape enhancements, business promotion and activations and events all year-round. The WBIA is funded annually by a special levy charged to commercial and industrial property owners, and non-residential tenants of such properties. This annual meeting determines the annual budget that is approved by those mentioned above. A more detailed meeting agenda with details of the 2027 budget presented for approval at the AGM will be distributed three weeks in advance. Details will also be posted on the Waterfront BIA’s website, www.waterfrontbia.com. Please contact our Coordinator, Operations, Dorsa Alizadeh-Shabani, dorsa@waterfrontbia.com, for additional information.

Board election for the term of 2026-2030

BIAs are in an election year and the Waterfront BIA will be presenting a slate of board of management members to the general membership for election at this AGM. If you are interested in being considered for nomination on behalf of your property or business, please contact Tim Kocur, Executive Director, tkocur@waterfrontbia.com by August 28, 2026, 4:00 pm. Please provide name, title, company, address, contact information, any previous involvement in civic leadership roles, and a description of where your skills would contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and governance of the BIA. We will provide a formal nomination form with additional information about eligibility requirements.

The Waterfront BIA has adopted a board matrix to ensure those included are representative of different types of properties, businesses and industries across the full geographic boundaries of the area. The BIA board will deliberate and consider additions to the slate presented for election based on fulfillment of these priority areas. You may be contacted by the BIA for a further discussion or introductions in advance of the AGM.
