Ice Breakers: Winter FanFare

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”40420″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]Thena Tak, lecturer at the University of BC, has created Winter FanFare, which she describes as a series of rotating fan-sculptures that collectively form a circulation playscape for winter exploration. In the spirit of the competition’s theme, ‘constellations’, Winter FanFare deploys individual fan-sculptures to create clusters of pockets where the public can meander through, or run in and around. Tak is also a designer with VJAA in Minneapolis, a collaborative design studio known for architecture that engages social, cultural, and environmental issues in a creative way, just as Winter FanFare seeks to do. Tak says the installation is best seen in the snowy atmosphere, just as the sun is setting. You can find Winter FanFare in HTO Park.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
