From August 10-11, PortsToronto is bringing Sail-In Cinema – Toronto’s only outdoor floating film event – back to Toronto’s waterfront! This year’s event will take place over two action-packed nights and will feature a new state-of-the-art cinematic experience.

For the first time, Sail-In Cinema will use a double-sided, high definition LED digital screen and custom-configured audio system. Instead of the inflatable screen used in years past, movies will be shown on a screen nearly two-storeys tall which will be anchored to a barge floating in Lake Ontario. It will be a new high-definition viewing experience, but with the same unique opportunity to watch films by land or by boat.

This year’s theme “In Other Worlds” will take audiences on a journey through the Goblin King’s maze in search of what matters most on Friday night. On Saturday night, they’ll do it all again by bringing audiences courtside to watch the Looney Tunes face off against the Monstars in a high-stakes basketball game. Sail-in Cinema 2018’s winning movies and screening dates are as follows:

  • Labyrinth on Friday, August 10
  • Space Jam on Saturday, August 11

Sail-In Cinema takes place at Sugar Beach, with movie showings beginning nightly at 7:30 p.m. Gates will open and pre-show activities will begin at 5:00 p.m. each night.
