Subject: Invitation to participate in TTC Passenger Audit

Hello,

Please join us by engaging your community to help with the first ever comprehensive TTC Passenger Audit!

As a community-led initiative, the TTC Passenger Audit will help give Torontonians a sense of ownership over their public transit system. By providing a direct, on-site vehicle for constructive feedback, the audit will develop a concrete list of achievable goals for improving station cleanliness and making minor repairs. This list will be presented to the TTC and the progress made on these issues will then be tracked and made public to enable passengers to see the changes resulting from their action. The TTC Passenger Audit will take place on Saturday, July 17 2010 from 11am – 12:30pm. In partnership with community groups and business groups, passengers will be welcomed into 69 Subway and Scarborough Rapid Transit stations across Toronto to partake in a tour of the station they use most frequently, and to fill in a questionnaire about safety and cleanliness improvements they feel the station requires.

We need your help! We are looking to community and business groups to “adopt” a station and help arrange for volunteers and participants at their station. Three team captains will be required. One will be an MC that leads the group on a brief tour of the outside and inside of their assigned station, another will help to direct the crowd, and a third volunteer will act as a scribe, taking down and collecting the riders’ comments and compiling them into a report based on a model that we provide. Your assistance will also be required for promoting the audit and enlisting participants to come and take part.

Following this process, a joint report of the responses from all stations will be compiled and presented to the Toronto Transit Commission for their response.

I f you or anyone you know is interested in participating please refer us to them to us. If you have any questions, please contact Anthony Schein in my office at aschein@toronto.ca

Sincerely,

Anthony Schein
