November 2017

The City of Toronto will be launching the King Street Transit Pilot project with implementation beginning November 1st – 12th 2017, from Bathurst Street to Jarvis Street. The expected pilot duration is one year.

The pilot is about moving people more efficiently on transit, improving public space and supporting business and economic prosperity along King Street. Local traffic access will be allowed. The City and TTC are currently finalizing a Communication and Awareness Plan for public communications.

During the course of this pilot project, vehicles are not allowed to drive through the intersections on King Street, except for: TTC Vehicles, emergency vehicles, bicycles, and road maintenance. (see map for design of each block).

Taxis are allowed to travel through the intersections of the street between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. The City welcomes your feedback during this pilot.

The BIA will be commissioning Grad students to help provide research on this pilot from a local economic impact standpoint (surveys and other business engagement will begin once the pilot has been running for a sufficient period).
